Arlington, VA — Today, Tenley Peterson is pleased to announce the endorsements of two former Arlington County Board members, Jay Fisette (served 1998–2017) and Katie Cristol (served 2016–2023). Tenley Peterson is seeking the Democratic nomination for an open seat on the Arlington County Board in 2024.

Fisette, a former five-term County Board member, stated, “I have always been a fan of Tenley Peterson. Tenley’s long history of effective community leadership has focused on two incredibly important areas—land use and budgets. Tenley works hard, she is knowledgeable, and she models the civility and respectfulness we need in our leaders.” Fisette continued, “She has effectively managed volunteering, her career, and parenting. Tenley is a team player yet strong and principled, and no shrinking violet.”

Cristol, who served two terms on the Arlington County Board and who has held various leadership roles throughout the region, stated, “In a community as dynamic as ours, we need County Board members with the right skills and values to adapt to new opportunities and lead us through unforeseen challenges. Tenley’s progressive values, collaborative nature, and deep commitment to public service will make her an exemplary Board member: Equipped both to meet the needs of today and lead Arlington into the future.”

In response to both endorsements, Peterson said, “I am honored to have both Jay’s and Katie’s endorsements for Arlington County Board. During the twelve years I’ve served as a County Commissioner, Jay and Katie have both been meaningful mentors, partners, and friends as I advised them as County Board members on budget and land use decisions. They are both exemplary public servants who pushed Arlington forward. I’m very happy to have them on my team.”

Tenley Peterson is the current Vice Chair of Arlington County’s Planning Commission and the former Chair of the Financial Affairs Advisory Commission. Peterson is also an APS substitute teacher, mom of three, a union member of Arlington Education Association, and a communications professional. Peterson is a progressive Democrat who believes that a public servant’s number one responsibility is putting people first when making policy decisions. If elected, Peterson will bring experience, pragmatism, and kindness to the County Board to find solutions that work for all of Arlington.
